The 6 Best Things to Do in Houston, Texas
Houston, Texas

If you have been following me for a while, you already know my love for Houston. But this is not simply a matter of perception. Houston is often known as the “unofficial capital of Texas” for its rich history and culture. If Houston is on your bucket list, consider visiting it soon.

To help you, I would start with a short guide with only the six most exciting things to do in Houston, but keep in mind that the list goes on with many more great places and activities you can consider.

  • THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE CENTER should be at the top of the list of things you should see in Huston. Whether you are curious about space, this place fascinates you in many ways. During your Space Center Houston visit, you’ll peruse collections of spacesuits from historic missions, real shuttles, and space artifacts. Notable, isn’t it?
  • HOUSTON MUSEUM OF SCIENCE is the perfect destination for science fanatics. The museum features unique curations of dinosaur skeletons, ancient artifacts, precious gems, and marvels of science and technology. This museum has always attracted visitors from all over the world! You can be the next one…
  • DOWNTOWN AQUARIUM is one of the top points of interest in Houston.  This aquarium showcases an extraordinary variety of tropical species and the likes of a shipwreck, sunken temple, and an “offshore” rig. They also have an outdoor exhibit that’s home to 4 white tigers!
  • HOUSTON ZOO is another tourist attraction you shouldn’t miss. It’s home to over 6,000 animals, and visiting is sure to be an exciting all-day affair. What’s more interesting is that you can get closer to some animals. You can feed them, walk with them, or even hug them.
  • BUFFALO BAYOU PARK is the ideal place in Houston to spend a leisurely day soaking up nature while enjoying a picnic with your friends or family. For sports lovers, there’s a network of hike and bike trails running throughout Buffalo Bayou Park, with bike rentals conveniently located at the park entrance.
  • MEMORIAL PARK is the epicenter of Houston outdoor recreation. This park is a true urban oasis. It is 1400 acres, nearly twice the size of New York’s Central Park. The activities you can do there are of a wide variety. You can go mountain biking, play tennis, golf or even swimming.
In Houston, you can turn your attention wherever you want: to the arts, nature, sports, museums, etc. It looks like there is always something interesting to do in Houston. So start with visiting these 6 destinations, and I am sure you will find many more attractive places on the way. This is what everyone experiences in Houston, constant amazement.
