Staging: What Should I Know About Staging My Home?

Whoever is a part of the real estate market understands that no one can sell a house quickly without staging it first.

Staging is designed to showcase your home’s best assets, impress buyers, and sell it for the best price possible. Staging makes it easier for buyers to visualize a property as their future home.

If you are thinking of selling your house, and don’t know where to start with this process, here are my suggestions:

1. Clean every part of the house, from the ceiling to the floor. A clean home lets potential buyers understand that you have taken excellent care of it and that they will live comfortably there.

2. Declutter the house and get rid of the things you no longer need. All these things make your home look like it has less space. The more empty storage you have, the better.

3. Depersonalize your house. Put away everything personal, such as family or other photos, clothes, etc. Potential buyers must envision themselves in your home, but it is difficult to do so with highly personal things around the house.

4. Paint your wall with warm, neutral colors. You might like a brighter color, but people’s tastes in colors are particular and highly personal. So painting the wall neutral minimizes the risk of your potential buyers not feeling themselves in your home.

5. Take advantage of your home’s natural light, and open all curtains when showing your home. Turn on all the lights if necessary. This makes your home appear brighter and more inviting.

Remember that staging may be one of the most lucrative projects you have ever undertaken. It can create a more emotional purchase for the buyer, ultimately generating more money for you as the seller.
